Infertility

Infertility may be defined as the incapability of an individual, a plant or an animal to reproduce by natural means. As far as human beings are concerned, an infertile woman is the one who is incapable of conceiving a child and also unable to carry the foetus in her womb throughout the pregnancy term.

However, it has been noted that around 20-30% cases of infertility are due to the inability of the male partners to impregnate their female partners; 20-35% of infertility cases arise due to the inability of female partners to conceive a child and 25-40% of infertility cases are due to combined problems in both the partners. Again no specific cause can be traced for around 10-20% of infertility cases.
